Game Lab Weekly 5: 12/21/12

Here’s another Weekly 5 for you to check out!

1. Zork Creators Interview

Here’s an interview from Wired with the creators of Zork, Infocom co-founders Dave Leibling and Marc Blank. Wonderfully, the interview is presented as a text adventure!

2. Interview with Far Cry 3 writer.

Twitter was all abuzz about this one. Far Cry 3  has gotten some negative publicity about it’s narrative, and so Jeffrey Yohalem, the game’s “author” spoke to Rock, Paper, Shotgun about the game.

3. Gamasutra on THQ Bankruptcy

THQ has filed for bankruptcy, and while many have suggested this seemed like an inevitability, there are some potentially far reaching consequences. Gamasutra addresses the story, filters the legal language for you, and offers some thoughts about what the consequences might be.

4. Maddy Myers on Masculinity and Hotline Miami

This is one of the best looks at issues with violence in videogames. It adresses the cultural issues at play, and looks at how violence and traditional notions of masculinity are intertwined.

 5. Great Gatsby Game

A slightly older game, but considering the latest trailer for Baz Luhrmann’s inevitable butchering of a classic story (the trailer features Filter’s also crappy cover of  “Happy Together”), we figured why not bring it back to you folks. It’s a fun little NES inspired game. Check it out.
