Final Presentations: CMS.617 “Advanced Games Studio”

May 22, 2013 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

This has been our first semester teaching “Advanced Games Studio”, a course designed for students to bring into practice the methods they’ve learned about game production and design from their previous MIT Game Lab-taught classes (CMS.611 “Creating Videogames” and CMS.608 “Game Design”). Students signed up for the course with teams and game ideas in mind and were tasked with pitching their game to us and spending a full semester prototyping, iterating, and producing their games. Students were allowed to make either non-digital or digital games, with the goal of creating by the end of the semester a fully polished and tested game in the medium they chose.

This year, we have 3 teams presenting their 3 computer games, each asking an audience member to play their game for a live demo. After each demo, the team will then give a postmortem presentation about their semester on what what right, what went wrong, and what they learned during the process. There will be time after each presentation for questions to the teams.
