Summer Game Design Workshops
Beginning in 2023 the MIT Game Lab and ElevatePro have been working together to bring Chinese students to MIT for intensive summer learning programs on game design. Students take classes and conduct projects to learn about the state-of-the-art of design through playing and making games. The education includes developing skills in carrying out critical analysis of existing commercial games and industry practices, as well as building experience in teamwork and collaboration. The course culminates with students developing and delivering pitches presenting the games they worked on during the session. In addition to time spent on the MIT campus, students visit prominent sites of education, culture, and history in Boston and interact with local students. This intensive program helps enhance student’s critical thinking, game design skills, and communication competence, while preparing them to become next-generation pioneers in the global game industry.
